Soccer – Wilshere facing six weeks out

Jack Wilshere is set to spend up to six weeks on the sidelines after West Ham, who are 11/2 with Bet365 to beat Chelsea on Sunday, confirmed the midfielder has undergone ankle surgery.

The 26-year-old has had serious ankle injuries in the past, forcing him to spend extended periods of time on the sidelines when on the books of Arsenal.
Following his summer switch from the Gunners to the London Stadium, Wilshere had featured in West Ham’s first four Premier League this season.
However, he is expected to be out for action for six weeks after Monday’s operation, ruling him out of the games with Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Discussing Wilshere’s surgery, head of medical Richard Collinge told the club’s website: “We envisage he will only need a relatively short period of rest and will then start his rehabilitation. Jack is focused and determined to get back training and playing as soon as possible.”
