Soccer – Robben won’t be part of Bayern Munich exodus

Arjen Robben has said he will not be following outgoing Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola to new club Manchester City and is determined to end the season with a push for silverware.

The highly-rated coach has confirmed he will leave Allianz-Arena at the end of the season to replace Manuel Pellegrini and reports in Germany about which players may follow him to the Premier League have found traction.
Netherlands international Robben has said he will not be asking to leave the defending champions and is keen for his final season with Guardiola to end on a high in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
“No, he didn’t ask me to join him on his way to Manchester City,” he told reporters. “I don’t think he would do that. Not with me and not with other players either.
“We all have only one goal: to finish this season with as many trophies as possible. That’s the only thing that matters right now.”
Robben has struggled for fitness and form this season – he has made just 10 Bundesliga appearances – but Guardiola insists he has a part to play in his final season in charge in Germany.
“Arjen needs time to get back to his best. But he is hugely important for me with his desire to get forward and his strength in one-on-ones,” Guardiola said at a news conference.
The champions have an eight-point lead over rivals Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table in Germany and are quoted 1/100 by Bet365 to win this season’s title.
