Soccer – Garde rues Villa’s misfortune

Remi Garde thought his Aston Villa side should have been awarded a penalty in the opening stages of the 2-0 defeat at West Ham United.

Garde was convinced Michail Antonio had handled Gabriel Agbonlahor’s cross inside the area, but Villa’s spot-kick claims were turned down and Antonio went on to break the deadlock before Cheikhou Kouyate made it 2-0 in the 85th minute.
However, both the Hammers’ goals were scored after Jordan Ayew had been dismissed for jabbing his arm into Aaron Cresswell’s face.
The result leaves Villa at 1/4 with Bet365 to finish at the bottom of the Premier League table this season.
Garde said after the match: “Like the two previous games we have been denied a penalty, at West Brom and the home game against Leicester.”
Villa are 11/1 to beat Norwich City 2-0 at Villa Park on Saturday.
