Tennis – Djokovic ready for Fed showdown

Novak Djokovic, 4/11 with Bet365 to reach the final, will take on old rival Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the Australian Open.

World number one and defending champion Djokovic cruised to a 6-3 6-2 6-4 victory over Kei Nishikori, while Federer also won his quarter-final in straight sets, seeing off Tomas Berdych 7-6 6-2 6-4.
Those victories set up a 45th career showdown between Djokovic and Federer, who have won nine titles in Melbourne between them, although they have never met in an Australian Open final.
Their head-to-head record is locked at 22 victories apiece, with Djokovic having won their last meeting in Melbourne, securing a 7-6 7-5 6-4 semi-final win in 2011 before going on to defeat Andy Murray in the final.
And Djokovic is readying himself for yet another titanic battle with the Swiss maestro, saying after a mixed performance against Nishikori: “It seems like half of my career match-ups are with him. It’s always a great challenge, I have so much respect for him.”
