Soccer – Silverware the aim for Martinez

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes his side are close to being able to bring some silverware back to Goodison Park.

The Toffees last tasted major success in 1995 when they lifted the FA Cup for the fifth time in their history, but Martinez thinks that further success is not too far away, as his side prepare to face Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
He told reporters: “I think we are on the right track in having a team that excites us. I truly believe we are not far away from bringing glory into our football club.
“That’s something we want more than anything, to be able to give our fans a taste of becoming a winning team once again.”
The Merseysiders play host to the Citizens in the first leg of the semi-final on Wednesday evening, hoping to secure a first win in six meetings with the men from Manchester, with Everton available at 11/4 with Bet365 to win the game.
