Soccer – Klopp ponders his transfer options

Jurgen Klopp may look to strengthen his squad this month after Dejan Lovren and Philippe Coutinho sustained injuries during Liverpool’s 1-0 Capital One Cup semi-final first leg victory at Stoke City.

Both players went off with hamstring problems so the Reds’ central defensive options are now extremely limited as Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho remain sidelined.
Midfielder Lucas was forced to play at the back after Lovren was injured in the first half on Tuesday and, when asked if he would need to enter the transfer market this month, Klopp said after the match: “This is something we have to think about.
“It’s a big, big shadow for us over the game that we cannot ignore. I honestly don’t know how serious the two injuries are. They did not look too good and so we have to wait.”
Liverpool are available at 5/4 with Bet365 to win the Capital One Cup outright and are 17/2 to beat Exeter City 3-0 in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday.
