Soccer – Confidence crucial for Garde

Aston Villa head coach Remi Garde says his players have to try and find the confidence to believe they can escape the threat of relegation.

The Villans, 1/3 with Bet365 to finish bottom of the table, have won just once in 20 Premier League games so far this season and are 11 points adrift of safety at the foot of the table.
But, ahead of a Tuesday evening visit from Crystal Palace, Garde has urged his squad to try and find the inner belief that they can engineer a turnaround in fortunes in the coming months.
He told reporters: “Every week I’m speaking about confidence, but we have to try to have more confidence.
“I’m not waiting on a parcel in the post that will be full of confidence. We have to be professional and generate it for ourselves.”
Garde expects to have captain Micah Richards available for the visit of the Eagles, with the defender recovering well from an ankle knock picked up in the 1-1 FA Cup third round draw at Wycombe Wanderers.
