Horse Racing – Moore hails Sire De Grugy form

Gary Moore feels Sire De Grugy is in “the form of his life” ahead of a bid to win the Clarence House Chase at Ascot later this month.

Winner of the Ascot Grade One in 2014, Sire De Grugy will once more go to the Berkshire track having won the Tingle Creek at Sandown.
Two years ago, he won both contests before putting up a fabulous performance to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
That is the ultimate target this season for a horse that has really started to gain some forward momentum after a troubled time with injuries and loss of form.
He went down narrowly in an enduring battle with another former champion chaser, Sprinter Sacre, at Kempton over Christmas, but that setback has done little to diminish his trainer’s positive outlook.
“I believe that he is now in the form of his life and I genuinely couldn’t be any happier with him,” Moore posted in his blog.
Sire De Grugy is 6/1 with Bet365 to win the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham in March.
