Golf – Top ten in Grace’s sights

Defending champion Branden Grace, 7/1 with Bet365 to retain his title, is hoping a strong performance at the Qatar Masters will help him break into the top ten of the world rankings.

The South African has hit a rich vein of form in recent months, finishing inside the top five at both the US Open and the USPGA Championship, as well as clinching a third-placed finish at the DP World Tour Championship.
And his run of quality displays, which have seen him rise to number 11 in the rankings, was kicked off by a victory at the Doha GC 12 months ago.
Ahead of the defence of his title, Grace told the official Sunshine Tour website: “It’s something you dream about as a young player, being in the world’s top ten, so it would be huge for me to achieve that.
“Last year (in Qatar) was a big step in the right direction for me. The rest of the year was my best year in terms of the standard of golf I played.
“It’s going to be hard to follow up those finishes in the Majors, but it’s given me a taste for it.”
