Soccer – Van Gaal insists he won’t resign

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has vowed not to quit despite reports suggesting he is close to the sack.

United drew 0-0 with Chelsea on Monday, their seventh goalless draw of the season, although they did twice hit the woodwork in the first half and forced Thibaut Courtois to make several fine saves.
After the 2-0 defeat at Stoke City on Boxing Day, the Dutchman had suggested he may resign, but was more upbeat after the stalemate against last season’s Premier League champions.
Van Gaal said: “Inside of the club the players are willing to fight for every metre, the manager is willing to fight.
“I can only work with my players and you have seen that the players are fighting for me; they have given a good performance.”
Manchester United are 6/5 with Bet365 to finish in the top four this season and 8/15 to win their next game against Swansea City.
