Soccer – Kompany faces fresh lay-off

Manchester City are set to be without skipper Vincent Kompany for a month after boss Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that he has suffered a new calf injury.

The 29-year-old Belgium international central defender only returned from an eight-game absence as a substitute in City’s 4-1 Boxing Day win against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium.
However, Kompany only lasted nine minutes before limping off and subsequently missed Tuesday evening’s goalless draw at Leicester City.
After the draw, which moved City above Tottenham into third position in the Premier League, three points behind leaders Arsenal and second-placed Leicester, Pellegrini revealed that his influential leader is looking at another spell on the sidelines.
He said: “Vincent has an injury, a second degree tear of the calf.
“We will see how long he will be out, but I don’t think it will be less than three to four weeks.”
City are now 11/8 with Bet365 to win the Premier League this season.
