Soccer – Robben ready to return for Bayern Munich

Arjen Robben could return when newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals at Allianz-Arena on Tuesday.

The Netherlands flyer suffered an abdominal strain against Borussia Monchengladbach in March but returned to first-team training at the weekend and could be named on the bench against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
The 31-year-old was coy on his chances of returning for Pep Guardiola’s side but his return from a lengthy injury is a welcome boost as the Bavarians chase a second treble in three years.
“That is not the important question,” Robben explained to the official club website. “The important question easily is to be healthy again, to return healthy. We will see if I am, but we are ahead of the plan.”
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger was joined by Mehdi Benatia, who suffered a hamstring strain during the first half of the DFB-Pokal quarter-final clash against Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern won a third straight Bundesliga title – and 24th in the club’s history – on Sunday because of Wolfsburg’s 1-0 defeat by Borussia Monchengladbach.
Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “We’ll have a magnificent party at some stage, no worries. But all in good time. When we do, it’ll be a huge celebration.”
Bayern Munich are currently priced 5/2 by Bet365 to win this season’s Champions League and semi-final opponents Barcelona are quoted 2/1.
