Snooker – Practised Robertson eager to challenge

Australian left-hander Neil Robertson is hoping to avoid what he considers underachievement by challenging for a second World Snooker Championship title.

The 2010 champion, 9/2 with Bet365 to take the title again this year, was upbeat after seeing off Jamie Jones 10-2 in the first round at the Crucible Theatre, with Robertson content that he has improved his practice regime for the task in hand.
He said after a comfortable opening win: “I have put in more hours for this tournament than any other in my whole career.
“If you were to stop my career and look back, I would definitely have a feeling of ‘what if I had practised more?’. I think I could do more, so I’ve left no stone unturned coming into this tournament.
“It would be harsh to say I have underachieved, but I think I could have won a lot more if I’d sacrificed a little bit more.”
