Snooker – Allen aims to go all the way

Northern Ireland left-hander Mark Allen says that there is plenty more to come from him, as he aims to win a first World Snooker Championship at The Crucible in Sheffield.

Allen opened up with a resounding 10-3 victory over Ryan Day, winning nine frames in a row as he overwhelmed the Welshman to set up a second-round showdown with Barry Hawkins.
And Allen, a Crucible semi-finalist in 2009 and 22/1 with Bet365 to win the title this year, is determined to build on that success and is full of belief for the challenges ahead.
He told reporters: “There are still a lot of things in that performance that I am not happy about. I have to work on my safety and long potting because in the balls I don’t think I will miss too many.
“To win nine frames in a row against anyone is an achievement, but there is more to come. I feel I have a great chance (of winning the title) – I’m playing well and fear no-one.”
